After a decade long movement to help free India’s airwaves, community radio was rejuvenated in 2006 with the passing of the Community Radio Law permitting community based organizations and NGOs to start their own radio station. Drishti fought for a community’s right to create and manage their own radio programming to give people the right to share concerns, find solutions and strengthen traditions on their own terms.

Community radio puts the power of development back in the hands of the community!
With the potential to engage 50,000 - 75,000 listeners every day, community radio expands an NGO’s reach and empowers communities to access and exercise their rights. Stations spearheaded by Drishti are of the people, for the people, and by the people to defend and promote their rights, culture, and environment.
DRISHTI has set up two community radio units, one in Kutch with Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS) and one in the Dangs district of Gujarat in collaboration with Centre for Social Justice (CSJ).

Today, we are holding technical trainings, art workshops, and development seminars, to build the capacity of other communities to own, control and create media content.
We have partnered with NGOs to launch 3 new stations around India and Radio Nazariya in Ahmedabad. Get to know our partners here.
Our radio stations connect villages, diversify perspectives, and spread information to all!
