It generally takes six to eight months to launch a Community Video Unit (CVU). Here is how we do it:

1. You (the potential partner NGO) read about our mission, read the concept note, and now want to launch a CVU in your area? Send us an email with your ideas and hopes for the CVU, as well as any questions you may have.
2. We (Drishti) review your proposal and send you a customized budget, an estimated work timeline, and other exciting details!
3. Like what we have to say? Ready to embark on a new adventure with Drishti? If you answered yes to both, then start searching for funds and we will start searching for your future Community Video Trainer.
4. In the meantime, create a preliminary list of at least 40 villages or slums that will benefit from the work of the CVU.  You should also jot down issues that effect this area, unique traditions, and any information you have on the demographics.
5. Done with #4? Great! Its time for us to pay you a visit. During our time together we will work to identify 25 villages or slum areas (from your original list of 40) where the CVU will work.  We will also start thinking about who the Community Producers will be and drafting a timeline for when things can get started.
6. We loved you! You loved us! Money is secured, villages are identified, issues have been discussed- lets sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
7. Together we find, interview, and hire 6-8 community members to serve as the Community Producers for your area.
8. Secure all the equipment needed to get started
9. Meanwhile, we are busy recruiting and training a full time Trainer for your CVU who will work with you for 18 months.  The Trainer will undergo an intensive month long 'Training of Trainers' to ensure that the person is trained in all aspects of Community Media.
10. Simple enough? The Memorandum is signed, the equipment is bought, the trainer is hired and trained, the Community Producers are identified, and now production gets underway.
