Nazariya introduces diverse perspectives by screening films that reflect a broader reality of our society. Nazariya organizes arts & cultural programming for the youth on issues of peace and conflict transformation.



Ahmedabad, a city that embraces and encourages diversity, witnessed one of the fiercest communal riots in 2002. The violence ripped the city apart and created an immense distance between the Hindu and Muslim communities. After many conversations with the city’s youth, we found that they possessed a strong desire to mend this divide, to better understand diversity and to act for the common good.
Their dedication to realizing a unified city inspired us to launch Nazariya, an initiative aimed at promoting peace and conflict transformation amongst the youth of Ahmedabad. Nazariya uses film and art to stimulate thoughtful discussions on politics, violence, peace, and citizenship to inspire a new generation of active citizens.

Nazariya is now collaborating with Drishti’s Community Radio team to launch Radio Nazariya, Ahmedabad’s first youth-led community radio station.
The city’s youth are bringing their voices together to create a space where young people, irrespective of gender, caste, class, religion, faith, sexual orientation, social and economic background or literacy status can freely and fearlessly voice and discuss issues affecting their lives.
